Understand Electrical Circuit Symbols

When circuits are drawn scientifically, there are standard symbols that are used to represent different components.

Here is a picture of a simple circuit with a battery and a bulb.

Here is the scientific diagram of the same thing using standard symbols.

Do you notice the symbol for the battery?

Do you notice the symbol for the bulb?

And look at the wires - they are drawn in a rectangle shape.

In this activity, we will see different symbols and we will need to try and work out what each one is for.
